Wednesday

Look. It's a book.

I lugged a bag away from the library the other day. Twenty-one books! That is how many I borrowed. And, not all of them were for the kiddos.

What can I say? I like books.

So, I thought it would be appropriate for me to join in Gretchen at Jewels in My Crown...Someday's giveaway.

But, then the problem came. I was supposed to find a gently used book. Um, yeah. I'm not very gentle with my books. I bend and dog-ear them. I don't always write in them, but you never know.

In fact, I've almost stopped borrowing books from people. You see I don't always remember to barely open the book in order to keep the spine from getting a crease. How do people do this? Do you do this?

But, you're in luck because I did find a book on my shelf that is in wonderful condition.

Oh wait, I just checked and my friend's name is in the front, so I'll have to scratch that out. (Shh, don't tell her I'm giving away the book.)

Oh, I kid. She told me to keep it. But, I will scratch out her name all the same. Other than that, the book is in great condition.

And, oh my, hasn't this turned into quite the long post about a book I'd like to giveaway?
Here it is:

The title of the book is Stepping Heavenward, One Woman's Journey to Godliness. It is written by Elizabeth Prentiss. I'll just say that it has been an incredibly inspiring book for me as I learn what it means to walk with God. I'll let Elisabeth Elliot do the rest.

"This book is a treasure of both godly and womanly wisdom told with disarming candor and humility, yet revealing a deep heart's desire to know God. We need such intimate accounts, need them desperately when the word commitment is so little understood and so seldom practiced. I do not hesitate to recommend it to men, who need to better understand the wives they live with, and to any woman who wants to walk with God."

See, she took the words right out of my mouth. Um, yeah.

If you'd like to win this book, please leave a comment on this post. I'll keep the comments open until Monday June 30, 2008 at 8:00 a.m. central time. This giveaway is open to both bloggers and non-bloggers whether you live in the U.S. or not.
