The Toddler and the Tree

A week ago, when we put up the Christmas tree, I certainly expected to have to work to keep little hands away from the ornaments. I did not, however, expect to have to teach my toddler that he may not go to the kitchen, retrieve a spoon from the drawer, return to the living room, and then proceed to have batting practice using the hanging ornaments for balls and the spoon for a bat. No, indeed, that had not crossed my mind. I'm pretty sure we're in trouble when baseball season starts.
